ALKALOID’s Chemistry Unit was founded in 1957 by a group of professors of the Technical-Metallurgy Faculty in Skopje and a group of local economic operators. Today, there is a developed programme for the production of chemicals and organic and non-organic reagents, with pa, puriss, purum and with pharmacopeial qualities.  They are suitable for laboratories within institutions, faculties, clinics, the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry, as well as in the production processes of other industries.
The production program is traditionally recognisable on the market and it was developed in accordance with MLS, ACS (American Chemical Society), ISO quality standards and in co-operation with world renowned and recognised companies such as: Merck, Fluka-Sigma Aldrich, Carlo Erba and others.
The development of the Chemistry Unity follows the principles of flexibility and compatibility of the programme with market requirements and meeting product quality, deadlines and product prices.
The factory operates within the Profit centre – Chemistry, Cosmetics and Botanicals Units and is located in Skopje, in Đorče Petrov, with over 100.000 l reactor space, in around 70 reactor units, with various working volumes and additional apparatuses and infrastructure, with own development and 60 employees in all segments. In 1997 it received the ISO 9001 certificate, issued by QQS.
